The Oti Regional Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has been urged to sustain its recent performance gains and intensify efforts towards achieving universal health coverage.
Delivering a message on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, the Director of Membership and Regional Operations, Mr. Sebastian Alangpulisa, commended the region for its impressive turnaround, rising from the bottom of national rankings to 10th position by the end of 2025.
He outlined a three-point agenda to consolidate the gains, including boosting membership enrolment and renewals, strengthening monitoring and operational efficiency, and deepening stakeholder collaboration.
Mr. Alangpulisa further encouraged staff to remain focused and committed to achieving even better results in 2026. Oti Regional Director, Mr. Julius Nelimor, described the review meeting as an important platform to assess performance, address challenges, and recognise excellence. He highlighted a significant increase in population coverage from 39% in 2024 to 56% in 2025, with some districts recording over 80% coverage, attributing the progress to improved infrastructure, supervision, and staff motivation.
The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, praised the NHIA for expanding access to healthcare and called for stronger collaboration to sustain the progress. At the awards ceremony, Krachi West was named Best Performing District, followed by Kadjebi and Jasikan.
Despite ongoing challenges such as staff shortages and network issues, the region remains committed to improving service delivery. The event concluded with renewed determination among staff and stakeholders to build on the gains and enhance healthcare access across the Oti Region.
