Ga North Municipal Hospital, under the leadership of Medical Superintendent Dr. Victor Caesar, carried out an impactful community outreach yesterday at Ofankor Market and its surrounding catchment areas to mark the culmination of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

The outreach brought health education directly to the community, with clinic staff engaging traders, shoppers, and residents on the importance of early detection, risk factors, and preventive measures for cervical cancer. In addition to education, the team conducted basic health screenings, including monitoring blood pressure and other vital signs, providing personalized advice and referrals where necessary.

Speaking during the activity, Nurse Officer Chelcy Comfort Gakpo, who led the outreach team, reminded all health workers that “every health worker promotes health.” She emphasized that promoting wellness is not limited to hospitals or clinics, but can happen anywhere, at any time, through simple acts of education, guidance, and support.

Dr. Victor Caesar highlighted the significance of taking health services closer to the people, noting that community engagement is vital in preventive health care. “By bringing health education and services to marketplaces and public spaces, we empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being,” he said.

The outreach also served as a reminder to the public that wellness is an everyday responsibility, not something confined to special campaigns or hospital visits. Participants were educated on lifestyle choices, early warning signs of cervical cancer, and the importance of regular screenings, particularly for women, as well as general tips for maintaining overall health.

Residents and market traders expressed appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging the importance of receiving health education and services within their community. Many reported feeling more informed and motivated to take proactive steps toward their health, reinforcing the impact of such outreach programs.

The activity aligns with the Wellness Clinic’s ongoing commitment to preventive healthcare and community-centered health promotion, underscoring the message that small, consistent interventions can have significant long-term benefits for public health.

As the clinic continues to engage communities across Ga North Municipality, Greater Accra and beyound, the motto “Wellness, we say, is our everyday health” remains at the heart of its outreach efforts, inspiring both health workers and residents to prioritize health every day.
