Seven Member Committee to Probe Alleged Unethical Practices at Korle Bu, Ridge

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has constituted a seven-member Investigation Committee to inquire into alleged unethical medical practices at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).

The Committee is chaired by Alhaji Dr (Pharm) Inua Yusuf, Esq., Head/Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Health, and is composed of the following members:

Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu – Chief Executive Officer, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, and Dean of CEOs for Teaching Hospitals

Dr. Adam Abass – Neurosurgeon, Tamale Teaching Hospital, and President, Ghana Academy of Neurosurgeons

Dr. George Sabblah – Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Technical Operations), Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and FDA Representative

Dr. Nicholas Adjabu – Biomedical Engineer, Biomedical Engineering Unit, Ministry of Health

Dr. Frederick Kwarteng – Representative, Ghana Medical Association (GMA), and Head of the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics and the Department of Accident and Emergency, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

Prof. John Osae-Kwapong – Democracy and Development Fellow, CDD-Ghana, and Representative of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)

The key objectives of the Committee are to conduct a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the allegations of unethical medical practices at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), and to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of existing governance, oversight, and control systems in preventing unethical and unauthorised practices within the affected health facilities.

The Health Minister has directed the Committee to submit its final report and recommendations to the Ministry by 10 February 2026.
