The Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has commended the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services for their critical role in responding to national emergencies and supporting Ghana’s health system during times of crisis.
Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the Ghana Armed Forces Health Services Officers’ Mess Annual Ball, held on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo praised the dedication and professionalism of military healthcare personnel across all levels of service.
She highlighted the contribution of medical officers, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, technicians and support staff, noting that their ability to deliver care under demanding and often high-risk conditions has been essential to national emergency response efforts.

According to her, the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services have consistently demonstrated speed, discipline and resilience during public health crises, disasters and other emergency situations, providing life-saving care while supporting civilian health institutions.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo also outlined government initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s overall health emergency preparedness under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

These include decentralised primary healthcare delivery, the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Scheme to improve access and funding, the people-centred Mahama Cares initiative, and nationwide preventive health screenings led by Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama.
She said these measures are intended to enhance access to healthcare, improve early detection and strengthen Ghana’s capacity to respond effectively to emergencies, particularly in underserved communities.

The Deputy Chief of Staff reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services as a key pillar of national resilience, adding that collaboration between civilian and military health institutions remains essential in managing emergencies and safeguarding public health.
