Nungua Polyclinic Successfully Performs First Caesarean Section

Nungua Polyclinic has commenced Caesarean Section services, with the facility successfully performing its first Caesarean delivery.

The introduction of the service expands the range of maternal healthcare services available at the polyclinic and provides women within the Nungua catchment area with access to both emergency and planned surgical deliveries.

Prior to the introduction of the service, women requiring Caesarean delivery could be referred to higher-level health facilities.

The availability of the service at Nungua Polyclinic is therefore expected to reduce delays associated with referrals and improve access to surgical delivery for women in the area.

Following the first procedure, both the mother and baby are reported to be in stable condition.

The development is also expected to help reduce pressure on referral facilities within the region by enabling eligible Caesarean deliveries to be performed at the polyclinic.
