The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has inaugurated the newly constituted advisory Board of the Ghana Psychology Council (GPC), charging its members to provide strategic leadership and strengthen the regulation of psychological practice in the country.
The inauguration marks a significant step in efforts to promote professional standards, accountability and public protection within Ghana’s psychology sector.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA), the Association’s National President, Dr Richmond Acquah-Coleman, expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana, the Minister for Health and other stakeholders for facilitating the constitution of the new board.
He described the inauguration of the Council as an important milestone for the psychology profession, noting that it would help advance standards, recognition and protection for practitioners and the public.
The newly inaugurated Board is chaired by Dr Ama Edwin and comprises Prof. Charles C. Mate-Kole, Prof. Collins Badu Agyemang, Prof. Samuel Oheneba Dornyo, Alhajj Dr Inua Yusuf of the Ministry of Health, Dr Erica Dickson, Ms Anna Plange, Mr Albert Okpoti Botchway, and a representative from the Attorney General’s Office.

Dr Acquah-Coleman congratulated the Chair and members of the Board and expressed the GPA’s commitment to working closely with the Council to advance the interests of the psychology profession and improve services to the public.

He further assured members of the Association that they would be kept informed as engagements with the new Board progress.
