Personnel of Naval Headquarters were sensitised on mental health and suicide prevention as part of efforts to promote psychological well-being and resilience within the Ghana Navy.
The programme which was held on Wednesday 23 September 2026 at the Naval Headquarters, provided personnel with information on suicide awareness, risk factors, prevention and coping with the demands of military service.
Speaking at the session, the Deputy Chief Clinical Psychologist, Ghana Armed Forces Critical Care and Emergency Hospital (GAFCCEH) and 5 Garrison Medical Centre Pool, Lieutenant Colonel Alphonsus Francis Kwamena Tenteh, urged personnel to develop strong mental and emotional resilience and seek timely assistance when faced with difficulties.

He encouraged personnel to look out for one another, emphasising that help was available and in abundance. He also urged personnel experiencing distress to seek professional support and make use of the toll-free helpline.
The Director Naval Religious Affairs, Commander David Benedict Quayson, underscored the importance of creating a supportive environment where personnel can openly discuss personal and emotional challenges without fear of stigma.
