The Savannah Regional Health Directorate (SRHD) of the Ghana Health Service has appealed to the public to assist in locating a newborn reported missing from the East Gonja District Hospital in Salaga.
In a statement issued on June 11, the Directorate said the baby was allegedly stolen from the hospital on June 10. An immediate search was conducted within the facility, but the child was not found, prompting management to report the matter to the East Gonja District Police Command for investigation.
The Directorate urged anyone with information about the baby’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station, the Savannah Regional Health Directorate, or the East Gonja District Hospital, assuring that all information will be treated confidentially.
The SRHD expressed sympathy to the baby’s family and said it is working closely with hospital management, the Ghana Police Service and other stakeholders to locate the child and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It also assured the public that the safety and security of patients, newborns and all clients remain a top priority for the Ghana Health Service.
