The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has engaged licensed private health insurance providers to discuss key reforms aimed at strengthening Ghana’s private health insurance industry.
The meeting focused on critical issues including tariff standardization, the introduction of Visitor’s Health Insurance (VHI), publication of industry data, review of operational guidelines, and measures to improve compliance across the sector.
Speaking at the engagement, Director of the Private Health Insurance Schemes Directorate, Mr. Baba Zankawah Esq., underscored the importance of collaboration between the regulator and industry players to drive growth, efficiency, and sustainability.
Chairman of the Private Health Insurance Oversight Committee of the NHIA Governing Board, Dr. (Med.) Divine Banyubala Esq., reaffirmed NHIA’s commitment to a facilitative regulatory approach and called for continued partnership to expand private health insurance coverage and improve healthcare outcomes.
Participants welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation to NHIA for creating a platform for dialogue and stakeholder engagement.
