President John Dramani Mahama is set to participate in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, France, as part of an official visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit, which brings together world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts, will focus on strengthening global health systems, promoting sustainable food production, and advancing coordinated responses to emerging health challenges.
President Mahama, who is the founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, will play a prominent role at the event by co-chairing the high-level segment alongside President Macron on Tuesday. The segment will feature discussions among heads of state and government on global health security and international cooperation.
As part of his engagements, President Mahama will deliver two keynote addresses. The first will be at a session on Global Health Architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The session is expected to examine reforms to global health systems and culminate in a Political Declaration aimed at strengthening international health cooperation.
His second keynote address will open the high-level segment, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s perspectives and commitments toward enhancing global health security.
The One Health Summit is seen as a key platform for advancing collaborative approaches to health challenges that intersect human, animal, and environmental health, with participating countries seeking to deepen partnerships and improve resilience against future health threats.
