Officials from the Hungarian and Egyptian embassies have paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to discuss opportunities for trilateral cooperation aimed at strengthening Ghana’s health sector.

At the meeting, the delegation presented a proposed €200,000 medical support initiative designed to provide specialized medical experts and essential medical equipment to enhance healthcare delivery in the country.

The envoys explained that the intervention is intended to begin as a pilot project, with the potential to evolve into a broader, long-term partnership among Hungary, Egypt and Ghana.

To facilitate implementation, the embassies requested the Ministry of Health to nominate a beneficiary hospital within the Greater Accra Region and to grant official endorsement for the project.

Discussions also touched on plans to formalise the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which would clearly outline the project’s scope, including the categories of medical equipment to be supplied and the specialist personnel to be deployed.

Beyond equipment and expert support, the initiative is expected to incorporate capacity-building measures, including the training of selected Ghanaian medical professionals to promote sustainability and lasting impact.

The delegation was led by the Hungarian Ambassador, Mr. Tamás Fehér, and the Egyptian Ambassador, Mr. Wael Fathy, both of whom reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to deepening health sector cooperation with Ghana.
