Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two doctors and two nurses following allegations that they failed to provide emergency care to a hit-and-run victim who later died.

In a statement on February 23, 2026, the hospital said the interdictions follow established administrative procedures. A committee has been set up to investigate the incident.

The deceased, 29-year-old Charles Amissah, an engineer with Promasidor Ghana Limited, suffered severe shoulder injuries in a hit-and-run at the Circle Overpass, Accra, on February 6, 2026. EMS personnel stabilised him before attempting hospital transfers.

Reports indicate that Amissah could not be admitted at the Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, or Korle Bu due to a lack of beds. While at Korle Bu, he reportedly went into cardiac arrest and died.

The hospital said it expects full cooperation from all involved parties and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and quality healthcare. Further updates will be provided after the investigation concludes.
