The Management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has issued a public disclaimer distancing the hospital from an individual who falsely presented himself as a staff member of the hospital in a misleading TikTok Live video.

In a statement dated January 30, 2026, KATH clarified that the individual is not, and has never been, an employee, trainee, or affiliate of the hospital.

The hospital said the claims made in the video, including an allegation that doctors are responsible for approximately 80 per cent of deaths in hospitals, are completely false, misleading, and baseless.

According to KATH, the assertions amount to dangerous misinformation capable of eroding public trust in healthcare professionals and institutions.

“The individual claimed to have received his training in South Africa, but has no association whatsoever with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,” the statement said.

Management further stated that the hospital has reported the matter to the Ghana Police Service for investigation and any necessary legal action.

It added that the TikTok account or handle used to disseminate the falsehoods has since been taken down following reports of violations of the platform’s policies.

KATH reaffirmed its commitment to delivering excellent, evidence-based specialist healthcare, supported by continuous training, research, and professional ethics.

The hospital also cautioned the public to exercise restraint when consuming health-related information on social media, urging people to verify such information and rely only on official communications from KATH and other credible sources.
