Japan Supports Ghana’s Health Sector with US$20 Million Grant

Ghana and Japan have signed a US$20 million grant facility agreement to improve healthcare delivery in selected hospitals in the Northern Region.

The exchange of notes was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, and Ghanaian officials, formalising Japan’s financial support for the initiative.

The grant is aimed at enhancing access to quality and affordable healthcare services in beneficiary facilities within the Northern Region.

The intervention is expected to strengthen health infrastructure and service delivery as part of broader efforts to improve healthcare outcomes.

Government officials described access to quality and affordable healthcare as a key priority under the Mahama Administration, noting that the agreement aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector.

The signing also reaffirms the longstanding diplomatic and development cooperation between Ghana and Japan, with both countries expressing commitment to deepening impactful bilateral relations.
