The Ministry of Health has directed the immediate enforcement of enhanced security measures across all health facilities nationwide following a recent baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
In a press release issued on February 18, 2026, the Ministry commended the swift and coordinated response of the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, other key stakeholders, and the whistleblower who helped address the incident.
In light of the development, the Minister for Health has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure the strict enforcement of day and night security measures at all health facilities.
Facility administrators have been ordered to urgently review and strengthen their internal security protocols.
The Minister also reiterated an earlier government directive requiring all health facilities to install and ensure the proper functioning of CCTV surveillance systems.
The Ministry reassured the public of the government’s firm commitment to safeguarding patients and promoting accountability within the health sector. It further called for calm as investigations into the incident continue.
