Dr. Ernest Owusu Osei, surgeon with Tain District Hospital, has been awarded the Best Candidate in Surgery during the 2025 Membership examination in surgery.

He received the HUA YAWE-JIBRIL AMINU prize for the Best Candidate at the 2025 Membership Examination in Surgery, who also passed on the first attempt.

This was at the 66th Annual Scientific Conference of the West African College of Surgeons, which took place in Accra on Thursday, 12th February 2026.

Dr. Ernest Owusu Osei was posted to the Tain District Hospital in 2018. His hard work and diligence saw an enormous improvement in clinical outcomes and impressive maternal and neonatal indicators during his years of service. This was despite the poor infrastructure in the old facility.

He is known for his calm demeanour, composed approach to emergencies, and commitment to duty. He is currently pursuing neurosurgery with the Department of Surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and it is hoped that upon his completion, neurosurgical care will be established in the facility.
