Four healthcare professionals from the Tamale Teaching Hospital will travel to Czechia in October to undertake a specialised professional fellowship in traumatology under the Czech government’s MEDEVAC Programme.

The Czech Ambassador met with the medical professionals ahead of their departure for the training, which will be hosted by the General University Hospital Prague (Všeobecná fakultní nemocnice v Praze – VFN).

The fellowship is organised by the Ministry of the Interior of Czechia under its MEDEVAC Programme, which aims to strengthen international medical cooperation through capacity building and knowledge exchange.

According to the Czech Embassy, two training visits by Ghanaian healthcare professionals to Czech hospitals have already been completed this year, with four such visits planned in total.

The programme also facilitates the deployment of Czech medical specialists to Ghana, where they perform surgeries alongside local healthcare professionals while sharing specialised skills and expertise.

The initiative is expected to deepen professional collaboration between Ghana and Czechia and contribute to improved healthcare delivery through enhanced medical training and partnerships.
