Ghanaian musician Mzbel broke down in tears as she mourned the death of her sister, saying she believes the tragedy was linked to the long-standing shortage of hospital beds at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

In an emotional account, Mzbel said she had heard about the facility’s recurring “no bed syndrome” since childhood and never imagined it would affect her own family.

“Since I was a child, I’ve always heard reports that there were no beds available at Korle Bu. Now, I have lost my beloved sister because of that,” she said through tears.

While expressing her grief, the musician said she does not hold doctors and nurses responsible for the situation, acknowledging that they work under difficult conditions.

Instead, she blamed successive governments for failing to address the chronic shortage of beds and other healthcare infrastructure at Ghana’s largest referral hospital.

According to Mzbel, the issue has persisted for decades despite repeated public concerns, questioning why the problem remains unresolved while resources often appear readily available during election periods.

Her emotional remarks have reignited public discussion about Ghana’s healthcare system, particularly the persistent challenge of inadequate bed capacity in major public hospitals, including Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Mzbel’s account reflects her personal experience and opinion regarding the circumstances surrounding her sister’s death. Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has not publicly commented on her claims.
