Development Impact Partners (DIP), in partnership with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has announced plans to host Consumer Health Week 2026 (CHW 2026) in Accra from April 6 to April 12, 2026.
The event will be officially launched on April 7 at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences to coincide with the global commemoration of World Health Day.
Under the theme “Empowering Consumers. Strengthening Health Systems.”, the initiative aims to promote consumer health literacy, patient safety, responsible health practices, and trust within Ghana’s healthcare system.
The programme will bring together government institutions, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), development partners, civil society organisations, private sector actors, healthcare professionals, media and consumer groups.
Activities will begin on April 6 with public engagement and health education programmes, followed by a Consumer Health Week Summit and Health Expo from April 7 to 8, featuring policy dialogues, panel discussions, exhibitions, innovation showcases, workshops and on-site health screenings.
Public engagement, consumer education and community-based health outreach programmes will continue from April 9 to April 12.
Organisers say the initiative is designed to strengthen awareness of health rights and patient safety, promote responsible use of health products and services, and contribute to national health policy discussions.
The event is also expected to enhance public-private collaboration in the health sector and generate policy recommendations to guide future consumer health strategies in Ghana.
