The Government has approved the payment of outstanding salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives recruited during the 2024/2025 recruitment year.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, negotiations regarding the payment of the arrears have been successfully concluded.
Following engagements with the Ministry of Finance, approval has been granted for the outstanding arrears to be paid in four instalments from April through July.
Under the approved payment schedule, two months of arrears will be paid in April. This will be followed by three months’ payments in May, three months in June, and three months in July.
The Ministry of Health stated that the structured payment arrangement underscores Government’s commitment to clearing all outstanding obligations in a timely, responsible, and sustainable manner.
The Ministry commended nurses and midwives for their patience, professionalism, and dedication to service delivery despite the delays experienced.
It also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for the priority attention and urgency given to the matter.
