Dr. Muri Raifu, a Ghanaian neurosurgeon based in Beverly Hills, California, and Chief Executive Officer of Talamus Health, has donated specialized spinal equipment to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to enhance neurosurgical care in the country.

Presenting the items, Dr. Raifu explained that the advanced equipment is designed to support complex surgical procedures for patients with spinal injuries.

He noted that the donation is part of his commitment to strengthening neurosurgical care in Ghana and supporting the training of the next generation of neurosurgeons, ensuring timely and effective treatment for patients in need.

The donation comprises spinal instrumentation sets, biologics for spinal fusion, and pedicle screws, all of which are essential for treating severe brain and spinal conditions.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Leslie Issa Adam-Zakariah, Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Raifu for the generous gesture.

He assured that the equipment would be properly maintained and used to improve patient care.

Dr. Adam-Zakariah further stated that the Ghana Health Service aims to develop Ridge Hospital and other regional hospitals into centres of excellence in healthcare delivery.

He added that it is the vision of the Director-General, himself a consultant neurosurgeon, to position the Neurosurgery Department of Ridge Hospital as one of the leading facilities in the sub-region.
