The Adabraka District Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old, Gabriel Dimson, for allegedly assaulting a security officer on duty at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), formerly known as Ridge Hospital, on Wednesday, February 18.

The suspect, who was at the hospital in the company of his mother and a friend, was directed by the security officer to move to the reception area, as visitors are not permitted to stand at the entrance of the ward outside approved visiting hours.

According to reports, the suspect refused to comply with the directive and allegedly pushed the officer to the ground and physically assaulted him. The officer reportedly fell unconscious and was immediately attended to by doctors on duty.

In a statement issued on Friday, February 20, the hospital said the security officer, who lost consciousness following the incident, is currently responding to treatment.

GARH warned that it will not condone any form of violence against its staff.
